Bentonville’s Historic Peel Museum and Gardens: The Peel Museum, built by Samuel West Peel in 1875 is considered a remarkable example of the Italianate style that was popular in Arkansas from the 1840s to 1890s. It totaled 14 rooms and had two stories plus a basement and tower. The house had eight coal fireplaces. Each one had a distinctive mantelpiece. Legend says that during their courtship Samuel West Peel promised his wife Mary that he would build her a house like the ones she remembered from her childhood in Alabama. This house is the fulfillment of that promise. The family had two sons and four daughters that lived in the home. Join us for tour of the beautiful Peel Mansion and beautiful gardens. Afterwards We will drive a short distance to a very popular Chinese Restaurant with a buffet with over 40 selections at Lin’s Gardens, also in Bentonville.
